I was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, and raised in a military family. Because of my father’s service in the U.S. Army, I grew up living across the United States and in Europe, including time in France and Germany. Those experiences gave me an early appreciation for different cultures, hard work, and the importance of service.

From a young age, I developed a passion for music, leadership, and learning. I studied philosophy, played the French horn, and took on leadership roles in school organizations, including band and JROTC.

After high school, I attended college before serving a two-year mission in the southeastern United States. There, I worked closely with people from all walks of life and developed leadership skills that have stayed with me ever since.

I married in 1980 and quickly learned what it means to work hard to support a family. I held multiple jobs over the years—from printing and technical work to teaching and telecommunications—doing whatever was necessary to make ends meet. Those experiences shaped my deep respect for working families and the challenges they face.

I later joined the Utah Air National Guard, where I trained in radar systems and graduated with honors. My time in the military reinforced my belief in leading by example and serving alongside others.

In 1989, I moved my family to Eugene to work for the Federal Aviation Administration. Over the course of my career, I served as a technician, mentor, trainer, and leader, helping improve systems and support teams through accountability and hands-on leadership.

I am a husband, father, and grandfather. After losing my first wife in 2021 following a long illness, I was blessed to remarry an Indonesian woman and begin a new chapter in life.

I’m running for Oregon State Senate because I believe our state needs practical, accountable leadership that puts people first. My life has been shaped by service, perseverance, and hard work—and I’m ready to bring those values to Salem.
